Honda Pauses ETS Requirements in Wake of Supreme Court Decision
The Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been stayed by the U.S. Supreme Court.
As a result of this decision, we will be pausing these policies and programs, while also rescinding the HR Policy that was issued on Jan. 10.
Therefore, the following policies will not go into effect:
January 10 – Vaccine Registration & Time Off for Vaccines
Employers must obtain vaccination status for associates by this date.
Employers must provide associates with a reasonable amount of time (up to 4 hours paid time) to obtain their primary vaccination doses(s) (not the booster dose).
Employers must provide associates with a reasonable amount of time to recover from vaccine side effects (up to 2 calendar days) and allow for paid time off (including use of accrued PTO or sick time).
February 7 – Weekly Testing Program
Employers must develop, implement, and enforce either a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy or a weekly COVID-19 testing program. Honda will not mandate vaccines, so therefore, we must implement a weekly testing program.
We will continue to monitor any additional legal and regulation changes and communicate any future requirements. Note: This does not impact the recent changes Honda made to comply with California OSHA.
In the meantime, Honda continues to encourage vaccinations. The Honda incentive program for fully vaccinated associates is still available. You may sign into the Vaccination Registration System to share your information. The COVID-19 associate guidelines still apply.
