Honda Mask Update – 3/9/2022 |
|
We have all been looking forward to the day when we can adjust our mask requirements at Honda. After carefully studying the mask guideline changes issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Feb. 25, 2022, we’re pleased to announce that Honda is updating our mask guidelines and moving to a flexible approach that allows individual sites to safely remove masks when community levels and internal assessment levels are met.
The health and safety of our associates remains our top priority. Each week, the COVID-19 team will review local conditions and update a mask-use risk assessment for each site. Mask guidelines can vary from site to site depending on the CDC Community Level by county and/or Honda’s internal assessment.
Signage will be posted starting Monday, March 14, to notify associates of their worksite’s mask requirements. Site leads will adjust entry point mask use signage, as needed.
Associates will not be required to wear a mask if both of the following criteria are met:
-
The CDC Community Level in the county where Honda is located is identified as low or medium; and
-
Honda’s internal assessment demonstrates that the number of cases at an individual site are at or below the site’s average case rate
Note: Associates always have the option to wear a mask, even if not required at their location
Associates may need to wear a mask* based on analysis of the following criteria:
-
The CDC Community Level in the county where Honda is located is identified as high risk for the spread of COVID-19; and/or
-
Based on Risk Officer judgment, if the number of cases at an individual site are above the site’s predetermined indicator level
The overall goal of this approach is to remove masks when community and safe workplace conditions allow. Please note it is possible that a worksite’s mask requirements may differ from the local community, and that facilities in close proximity to each other may be subject to different mask requirements.
COVID-19 Safety & Health Guidelines Remain in Effect
Honda remains committed to reducing the risk of person-to-person spread of the COVID-19 virus in the work environment. Although we are announcing a change to our mask guidelines that will take effect March 14, Honda’s COVID-19 guidelines remain in effect to ensure a safe and healthy environment, including social distancing, staying home if feeling sick, etc. For more information, refer to the COVID-19 Safety & Health Guidelines.
Honda’s existing isolation and quarantine policy also continues to apply. Associates who are not required to quarantine after exposure or who are required to isolate due to illness or quarantine after exposure for a minimum of five days must continue to wear masks in the workplace for 10 days following the exposure, the test date leading to a positive result or the onset of symptoms. Associates with questions should call the Honda COVID-19 Helpline at 1-877-809-0051. South Carolina Manufacturing associates should call the local health center at 843-346-8199, and Honda Aero and Honda Aircraft Company associates should call their local HR.
Thank you for your support as we continue to work to minimize the spread of COVID-19. We’re incredibly proud that our associates have masked up for nearly two years to protect each other and our communities. As we move to this flexible new approach, we know our associates will remain vigilant in protecting each other by following these new mask guidelines. We continue to thank you for your cooperation and care for the Honda family.
